The Sunridge Observatory is a non-profit organization. We operate
as any non-profit organization through donations and grants. We
are open to visitors and groups to provide education and access to
equipment for the study of astronomy and education. Please watch
this site for further news and information.
Watch this site for details of our Summer Star Party. This Star Party is an extra special event. It will be a celebration of 20 years since the dedication of our main telescope which was recently upgraded. It is also the celebration of 25 years since the Observatory was built. Please plan on attending this event on Saturday September 06. More details to follow.
The Medicine Hat Astronomy Club had a booth at Spectrum this year. It was a great success. We had many visitors looking through our two telescopes at the Sun. Unfortunately, there were no sunspots to view. People had a chance to see two different types of solar filters that allow us to observe the Sun safely. On Saturday, June 14, the Medicine Hat Astronomy Club will have a display setup at Redcliff Days. Hope to see you there.
With the 18 inch telescope now operational, it is time to experience some of the great views of outerspace. Members are now working on the electronics to control the telescope.
To the general public, we did not stop open houses over the past few years, but we have not been advertising them as we should have. We have now set the schedule for the
2008 Visitor Nights.. Hope to see you at the observatory. The next visitors night is Saturday, June 14th at 20:30. Due to the late sunset, there won't be anything really good to see until closer to 22:30, when Saturn and Mars will be visible.
