Well the Star Party was a success. The clouds threatened to rain us out and were a contributing factor to the low attendance. In all we had 35 to 45 members and visitors attend. The clouds parted and before the evening was done, we had a chance to view Jupiter and three of it's moons. We also spent some time viewing the moon. The first time visitors where happy to get the chance to look through a telescope for the first time. Seeing the bands on Jupiter is quite impressive for one of your first viewing objects.

Through the event, Lucas did a presentation on his trip to China for the total eclipse of the sun this summer. The video of his trip to view the eclipse was very interesting, even if there were times it looked like the clouds were going to block out the eclipse.

Joe did a great job cooking the burgers and hot dogs that were enjoyed by all that stuffed themselves.

The clouds finally covered enough of the sky that we couldn't look at anything so we started packing up and finished just as the rain started. In all, we had a very good afternoon and evening. Thank you to all those that attended.
