Medicine Hat Astronomy Club
The Sunridge Observatory is a non-profit organization. We operate
as any non-profit organization through donations and grants. We
are open to visitors and groups to provide education and access to
equipment for the study of astronomy and education. Please watch
this site for further news and information. We run monthly open
houses for the general public as well as groups. We have a
library of astronomy and science books and videos to be signed out.
As a member, you can sign out telescopes or use the 18"
telescope for your viewing. A great place for the whole family.
Our observatory is located at GPS corridinates:

Warm weather is making star gazing more comfortable. Of course the shorter nights are making observing a later hobby. Saturn is now coming up late at night on the Eastern horizon just before midnight. A good night allows viewing Jupiter, Venus and Saturn.
The Medicine Hat Astronomy Club is sad to say goodbye to our current
President, Thor Jacobson. He will be moving away from Medicine Hat to
enjoy more of his retirement with family. He will be greatly missed as
he was a very active and prominent member and supporter of the club.
His role in the club will be very hard to replace.
Effective immediatly, all club contact will be through Robin Laing at 403.977.1744 (cell or text)
(prefer evenings).
The Medicine Hat Astronomy Club is happy to have received a Municipal
Sustainability Initiative grant in 2010 to purchase two new eyepieces.
